I'm looking for a really good online game that is free, but won't carry any viruses, or spyware, or anything that would or could harm my comp. I was recently playing CO, but I think they are getting money hungry, with dbs, and stuff, because they are lowering the Dragonball rate of finding any. Thanks again!

Basically you have a country and a military and you try to make your country the strongest, by attacking others or building on your land. Im trying to locate some software that will clean all uneeded files that disk cleanup doesnt clean such as temp internet history cache, old files leftover installation files, and everything that is cluttering up the system, rather free or for purchase, also that dont bring spyware or adware or what ever. I used to use Earthlinks PC fine tune wich man did it make the computer great had all kinds of options to clean the computer out clean the registry defrag it, looking for something close to that software if anyone is a earthlink user, i quit them a moved to At%26t wich if they do i can locate there software or they dont carry anything like that

go to run type prefetch delete everything do this regularly but i always manually delete all my stuff programs arent as effecient

Computer Slowdown?

Like millions more, I am frustrated , with my desktop and laptop, due to slowing down. I have had Norton, AVg Free, and I am now trying CA Virus%26 Spyware checker. I have run msconfig, stopped all uneccessary start up programmes, but stii find it is very slow. I have an Iqon AMD Sempron 2800+200ghz, 256 MBRAm and 74.5 GB Hard drive.Using Windows XP Prof. Any suggestions? Appreciated. Lap Top is a Presario 2100. I have re formatted a few times, and it works well for a few days and then ,!!!!!!!!!!! Help.

Five years from now, your system will be just as fast and responsive as the day you installed it, not to mention that you won't have any viruses, adwares, trojans, worms, etc., that would force you reinstall anyway.

Svchost.exe - no disk error? how do i get rid of this?

Hi, My PC's has been trouble free for the last 16 months! no viruses, spyware or anything! but in the last week i've been getting a message that pops up every 5-10 minutes saying the following:

svchost.ese - no disk

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive D.

You then have to hit cancel 10-20 times until is goes.

Any ideas how to solve this one?

when you start up svchost loads services from the registry to run. there can be more than one instance of svchost in the task manager (conrol-alt-delete)

if your main boot drive (the one with windows on) has been renamed then it could be the case that a removeable drive is now calling it's self c drive.

for example if windows resides on d: and c: is a memory stick drive then svchost will be looking for the services to load in the c drive. so if there is nothing in c: it will ask you to load the disk (whereas in reality it should be looking in d:)

click start- my computer to check which drive has the windows folder and then rename the drive if neccessary.

Then Scan, it will take HOURS! i mean like overnight hours but it works great!

then go to www.download.com and type in the serach bar "SpyBot" then use the set up and let it scan and then scan every week or so.

First you must clean-up the current infection.

Run both of these on-line scans and let them remove what they find. Both are free and excellent at detecting and removing malware free of charge. There is no need to un-install your current protections before using these.

1. Scan for virus, worms, dialers, etc. and remove (free online scan, no download) with BitDefender's Online Scanner

2. Scan for trojans, adware, and spyware and remove (free online scan, no download) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus.

These scans will take quite a bit of time. The time is necessary to clean-up an infected computer.

Now you must protect your computer from getting re-infected.

Go to Windows Update and update your Windows with all critical updates. Windows issued a "patch" for the ".ani" vulnerability about a month ago. Just click Tools and then Windows Updates and follow the instructions.

After you get all critical software updates, reboot and go back to Windows Updates again as there is actually updates to some updates!

A properly updated computer would not have been infected in the first place!

I am looking for any information, good or bad, that you can give me on AVG AntiVirus Software.

I have done google searches but I can't find many reviews. I would not be going with the free version as it does not have any spyware protection.

If anyone can recomend any other VP or let me know which ones *not* to use, that would also be appreciated.

The paid (anti malware) version of AVG is basically just a combination of the free AVG anti-virus and the free AVG anti-spyware. Pretty much a rip-off if you ask me.

I would personally reccommend AVG 7.5, or norton antivirus/spyware.
I like AVG (http://free.grisoft.com), personally, because it is free, effective, and user-friendly.

If you want Anti-Spyware, download Spybot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org).
AVG free is excellent. I've been using it for almost a year. For free spyware software, get Spybot and Ad-Aware. Now you're covered!
I use AVG 7.5, and never had a problem, plus it takes up less memory space than Norton. I also use Ad Aware SE Pro for deep scanning.
AVG is done by Grisoft (http://www.grisoft.com) and works fine for what it is meant to do. There are many other programs available, have a look at this site and see what's there for anti-virus and anti-spyware. They're all free programs like AVG, but some may have an upgrade option.
