Have you got anti spyware and a decent firewall, if not I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps.

Most viruses tend to be .exe files and they like to hide in the program files folder. They can be hidden there too so you might want to make sure you make hidden files visible. Basically, if it's something with a pornographic or very unusual name, it's a virus (unless of course you downloaded something like that). When you install a program it houses itself in the program files folder, but will have it's own seperate folder. The ones that just sit in the program files folder are usually a virus. Try to use avg just to scan this area and see what it comes up with. It should show you which files are viruses then you can manually go in and remove them. Otherwise try Clamwin Anti-virus which i find much better than AVG.
Clear cache, delete unused movie projects, save .wav music files to disk (as data) and delete them, do the same with .avi movies you may have....they take up huge amounts of memory , defrag..........You should be good to go after that.

What's the deal with this ad.doubleclick.net thing?

My computer has been running sluggish for a little while even though I ran scans on it with Spybot Search and Destroy, AVG free, Ad Aware, Superantispyware and Spyware Blaster. I have noticed ad.doubleclick.net showing up on the bottom bar whenever I log into my mail account. I added it to the sites to be blocked in my browser options and ran another program called PARETOLOGIC. It came up with 5 issues none of my other programs have detected. What's going on? Any ideas?

ad.doubleclick.net is actually usually just a cookie that is set by doubleclick.net which is an independent advertiser for people. The place pop-ups/unders on websites and pay the websites for it. It is usually nothing to worry about but sometimes there are virus' hidden within them.

I hate to say it but they are usually found on "Naughty" (not just porn, but gaming related etc) websites lol.

Okay I used F-Secure free scanner to detect viruses/spyware/malware/trojans/worms and all of those dirty things, right now it has scanned my entire computer (full computer scan) and is cleaning what it found, well it has been the same thing for over 1 hour (7/50) could the program have frozen? or what?

hey!! i think it's thinking to hard on something and it's using up all your RAM until the computer freezes. it might have to do with an windows update from about a month ago. i never turn off my computer, but i added a network on friday and had to restart my computer (which installs updates). for the last few days my computer has frozen around 6:30am, which i thought was random until i checked and found my fsecure ran virus scan at 6am. when i get up around 9, my screen is frozen and time shows 6:34 and cpu usage bar at 100% (the bar when you hit crtl+alt+del).

Does anyone one know where i can download...?

This is a tricky question. There is only one free program I know that scans, removes, and prevents and that is Windows Defender.

Spybot, and Adaware both scan and remove but the free version doesn't prevent. Spayware blaster helps prevent but does not scan. If you already have an infection try all of them plus HiJack this to remove hard to get of BHO's and good luck the best way to prevent spyware is to be careful.

I have used Ad-aware by Lavasoft. It scans, rates its findings, and will then remove the problem.

You can download the programme for free from Lavasoft website or if you download Google task bar you can get it as part of this operation along with other free downloads, including Norton anti-virus.

look into getting windows defender....this is a free microsoft download.

Also look into ad-aware and Spybot S %26 D. Having these three programs on your pc will create a software firewall if you have an updated anti-virus program.

Here are a list of the thing's that I've tried along with the results

Ran CCleaner - Cleaned everything up

Ran CounterSpy for a virus check - came up with a little bit then deleted the problems

Ran Kaspersky Anti-Virus - Came up with a little bit then deleted the problems

Ran Pc-Cillin Internet Secruity - Came up with nothing

Cleaned up my hard drive I've got about 25% free

Also I deleted the spyware that Kaspersky and CounterSpy came up with

Not sure what to do and I've begun to run out of things to try but after all of these things that I've tried my computer is still running slow here are my computer specs

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+

3 Gigs of RAM

Windows Vista 32

Nvidia 8600 GT

600 watt Power Supply

It sounds like you have a nice, newer computer, and it looks like you've already done everything I'd recommend. I'd try downloading Ad-Aware 2007 or Spybot-Search %26 Destroy, and run both of those, just to make sure you've gotten every piece of spyware and virus off of your computer. Other than that, go to Control Panel and remove all the programs you're not using.
