Anti virus package query?

i am using avg free trial of anti virus/spyware package. it seems to be very good but i feel my system is really slow now. is this what always happens? i was going to buy it at the end of the trial but am not sure.

are there any others that dont use up so much what ever on computer!!!

It is true that anti-virus packages may slow down the speed of you system, but that is something you must live with if you are determined to protect your computer from viruses.

I have Nortan internet security (have had it for 2 years) I have never encountered any problems and it has been well worth the money as it has blocked many viruses that otherwise would have 'killed' my computer. Personally I wouldn't be able to say for sure if it has clowed down my computer as I've had the software installed since day 1.

Check your task manager (Ctrl +Alt+Dlt) to see exactly how much memory the antivirus is using. Also, ensure that the antivirus isn't automatically running a virus scan when you log on to windows.

拢354 is about $700 in Canadian dollars so this PC is only a MEDIOCRE deal here. It should not be a lesser one in UK.

Celeron is OK but has a smaller cache

120 HD is really small. 250 is what you would get here.

The 8400 card is excellent and will play any game

Single processor is OK but the deal should be DUAL

The 2gig thumb drive is a cheap come on, worth only 拢10

i would uninstall xoftspySE and paretologic privacy cleaner they are both very poor programs.plus ccleaner cleans up after your internet usage anyway.you might want to try out superantispyware free edition as windows defender's detection rates are not very good.

Online Armor is very good.

AVG free is probably the worst of mainstream AV programs, offering very little protection. See: AVG free anti-virus: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/

Windows Defender has one two good points, it's free and it provides (some) real-time protection. But it's buggy and doesn't find and remove as much as SuperAntiSpyware (also free). Maybe keep WD for it's real-time protection but use SAS for on-demand scanning.

Get Ad-Aware Personal from www.lavasoft.com. It's one of the best antispyware programs out there and it's completely free. Yahoo antispy is pretty useless. AVG is a decent antivirus so you can stick with that.
