Download accelerators--What is the best and safest one out there?

Trying to find a free one without adware or spyware.

Download accelerators--What is the best and safest one out there?avast

I've been using Mass Downloader (from Meta Products) for long and it's working absolutely fine. You can configure it to use 10 threads simultaneously and download speed is fantastic. Moreover you can change the settings in it so as to use that software for downloading only when you click the downloadable link holding the Ctr key!

And the beauty is that there's no adware/spyware in it.

Hope this helps.

DownloadStudio
Literally, all of them are spyware/addware.
do not, they'll waste your time. Google probably has the best tool out there.

You can go to the official site of The Sims and download some cool stuff. I'm sorry, you can' download a whole expansion pack; you are just gonna buy one.

No, they still want to make money off of those, even though they're old.

You can buy them in the store for pretty cheap, though. $30 or 40 bucks will net you the base game and ALL of the expansion packs.
You can, but it's illegal; well luckily not where I live. :D

Registry cleaner?free adware remover

Not that I know thats free.Plus watch out for the ones that advertise free..Because it isn't usually free after a month and then they are so deep into your system it takes a cleaner just to get that out.I have McAfee with all three cds. it has everything and it is only 39.00 Anti- virus, quick clean and personal firewall. . It does everything and it is the same price as some anti viruses.Good luck
Go to http://www.macecraft.com and download RegSupreme 1.4 (that's the free version). That should sort out your registry. I use the pro version along with Easycleaner (http://www.toniarts.com)
You can use Eusing Free Registry Cleaner. It's free and makes a prenamed backup before cleaning what it has found to be bad registry entries. You can find it at any of the following:

I can't rename a new folder in root drive D:, even if i am not actively running any program??

i'm using windows media center edition. full system scan by Norton Internet Security says that my pc system is free of any viruses or spyware. going the ctrl-alt-del route shows that there are no running applications, and there are 52 processes running in the background, about 2% cpu usage. i can create and rename new subfolders of existing folders in drive D. i have no problem with drive C; i can create and rename a new folder at the root directory C:.

It sounds like a permission issue to me. Have you looked at the security on the d:drive? I assume you are administrator and can change the permissions and security, and even take ownership depending on the setup of your OS. Not sure if this is your problem but hope it helps. Good luck!

Can you open the folder? Write to it? Is it empty? Can you delete it? Can you right click on it in windows explorer and look at it's properties?

Is it safe to pay bills on line after getting rid a Malware Crush virus?

I recently got rid of Malware Crush using a free version of Super Anti Spyware. How can I be sure that it is safe to pay bills online? Could the information be used for identity theft? I noticed the virus immediatly and did not open any files to pay any bills.

You may want to change your password just to be safe.

Is it safe to pay bills on line after getting rid a Malware Crush virus?free antivirus download

if malwarecrush hadn't reappeared after it was removed by superantispyware, i guess it's gone. however, if you don't feel safe, you can check if malware crush is still on your computer. here's malware crush removal instructions: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-malwarec...

it contains filenames of all files that belong to malware crush. search for these files on your computer, if they are not there, malware crush is gone. if you find some of those files on your computer, simply delete them.

good luck!
if you removed MalwareCrush for 100% and there are no popups and other symptoms - yes.

What's the best download manager?

I mainly use firefox and sometimes its just so low. I want a download manager thats 1) free and 2) got NO spyware, viruses... and is 3) easy to use, wont always annoy you ...

I also want to use it for things like BBC iPlayer, or 4onDemand. Will a download manager work for these as well?

Thanks a lot ppl =D

What's the best download manager?computer repair

I have used

http://www.freedownloadmanager.org

for years .. you can schedule it to download and then switch off the pc =)

so I always leave my downloads running after I go sleep..

What's the best download manager?free antivirus

A download manager will not work for iplayer and 4ondemand as thay are peer2peer sharing. You are downloading for multiple locations (Other peoples pc's). I wouldnt touch that software untill you are downloading from a central server.

You will be using up your bandwith by sharing to others, whether you like it or not.
Internet Download Manager is the best download manager! You can download it for free at http://www.phazeddl.com
i think you should download limewire.but before that u have to download java and ccleaner .with limewire you can download audio, vodeo and lots of other things.and it makes your downloading a lot faster.
i use orbit you can use it also for downloading vids from youtube etc
I use Fresh Download, which works well for me, though I don't know if it would work with BBC iPlayer.

Why has my computer slowed down of late?

Of late, I find that my computer's response time has considerably increased. This is so not only for downloading internet pages but also for invoking software that is residing on the computer itself (e.g. MS Word, Excel). It seems to take forever for loading MS Word or Excel. Similarly, on launching internt explorer, it takes a very long time to load even the homepage. (I may clarify that I have a broadband connection). This has happened over last week or ten days. What could be the possible reason? Only changes that I have made recently are that I have downloaded free AVG anti virus, anti spyware and anti rootkit softwares. Are these responsible for my computer becoming slow?

Why has my computer slowed down of late?computer security

You have already got some good anwsers, but if you have a moment, please read through the following guide I put together. Sometimes the exact cause of a computer slowdown can be difficult to pin down.

A slow computer can be caused by many things, but there are a few key areas you can easily work on yourself to speed your computer up. To start, make sure you have enough memory (RAM) installed to run Windows and all of your applications correctly. I made a step-by-step guide to help you determine how much memory you have installed, and how to upgrade it if necessary:
