How can I save videos on my computer from sites like youtube.?

It used to be really easy. I use firefox and there was a plugin I could use, but now it doesn't work I want to be able to save these videos for later viewing. Does anyone know how I can do this for free without downloading any software that may contain spyware?

Try VideoGet. It downloads from YouTube and other 200+ video websites. And convert them into MP3, WMV, AVI, MPG, 3GP, MP4, etc

There are two ways you can do this.

1. Use software that will download the video and convert it to a mpeg or avi format.

I use an add on to Firefox called Fast Video Download. The youtube video is saved to your PC as a .flv file. Then you need to convert the .flv file to an mpeg file using software such as Riva http://www.rivavx.com/index.php?encoder%26...

A simpler way which does not involve installing software to your PC is http://vixy.net where the conversion is done online. However Vixy doesn't always work, so it's best not to try it when you're short of time.

2. Install Real Player 11 which allows you to both download and view Youtube .flv (Flash) files. http://uk.real.com/player/more
