1) Update to SP2

2) Upgrade to at least 1GB RAM

3) Download and install: Spybot, Ad-Aware, Avast Antivirus(all free)

I would update that to service pack 2, it is more optimized, making it faster. Also, you could upgrade the RAM. You can get a gig of notebook RAM online now for about 40 dollars. http://www.newegg.com is a good site for online computer electronics.

A good anti-spyware+adware+virus+trojan program is called superantispyware. It is very efficient, and will catch anything that is on your computer that shouldn't be on there.
